Bat Wing Chicken Wings

Bat Wing Chicken Wings are a spooky, savory treat perfect for Halloween. These wings are marinated in a dark, flavorful sauce and baked until crispy, giving them a blackened, bat-like appearance.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Black gel food coloring (optional, for color)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey, Worcestershire sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
  3. Add black gel food coloring to the marinade, if desired, to achieve a dark “bat wing” effect.
  4. Add chicken wings to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Let marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  5. Arrange the wings on the wire rack and bake for 35-45 minutes, turning halfway through, until the wings are dark and crispy.
  6. Remove from oven and serve warm for a spooky appetizer or party snack.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, pat the wings dry before marinating.
  • You can grill the wings instead of baking if preferred.
  • Food coloring is optional and only for visual effect.
