- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 8 taco shells
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Drain excess fat from the skillet.
- Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Pour in tomato sauce and simmer for 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Warm taco shells according to package instructions.
- Fill taco shells with beef mixture, then top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and cilantro if using.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Customize toppings to your preference, such as guacamole, salsa, or jalapeños.
- Use soft tortillas instead of hard shells if desired.
- For a spicier version, increase the cayenne pepper or add hot sauce.
