- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 8 small taco shells (hard or soft)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Sour cream, for serving (optional)
- Salsa, for serving (optional)
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes.
- Drain any excess fat and stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Add tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Warm taco shells according to package instructions.
- Assemble tacos by filling shells with beef mixture, then top with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and cilantro.
- Serve with sour cream and salsa if desired.

- Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
