Blueberry Puree

A simple and versatile blueberry puree made from fresh or frozen blueberries, perfect for desserts, drinks, or baby food.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 12 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
  • 12 teaspoons sugar or sweetener (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the blueberries thoroughly under cold water if using fresh berries.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the blueberries and water.
  3. Cook over medium heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries burst and release their juices.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  6. Optional: Strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove skins for a smoother texture.
  7. Stir in lemon juice and sugar if desired, then refrigerate or use immediately.

Notes

  • Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Freezes well for up to 3 months.
  • Adjust sweetness based on how the puree will be used.
