- 2 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
- 1–2 teaspoons sugar or sweetener (optional, to taste)
- Rinse the blueberries thoroughly under cold water if using fresh berries.
- In a small saucepan, combine the blueberries and water.
- Cook over medium heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries burst and release their juices.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- Optional: Strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove skins for a smoother texture.
- Stir in lemon juice and sugar if desired, then refrigerate or use immediately.
Notes
- Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Freezes well for up to 3 months.
