Buttery Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Creamy, rich, and flavorful mashed potatoes infused with butter and garlic, perfect as a comforting side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs russet or Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or more for desired consistency)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the potatoes and garlic cloves in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes and garlic, then return them to the pot.
  4. Add the butter and mash until smooth and well combined.
  5. Gradually add the milk, stirring until the desired creamy consistency is reached.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use Yukon gold potatoes for an extra creamy texture.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute half-and-half or heavy cream for the milk.
  • Roast the garlic beforehand for a sweeter, milder garlic flavor.
