Caprese Mozzarella-Stuffed Chicken is a flavorful and juicy dish combining the classic Italian Caprese salad elements—tomato, basil, and mozzarella—stuffed into tender chicken breasts and baked to perfection.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice a pocket into the side of each chicken breast, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  3. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian herbs on both sides.
  4. Stuff each chicken breast with 2 slices of mozzarella, a couple slices of tomato, and a few basil leaves.
  5. Secure the opening with toothpicks if needed.
  6. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Sear the stuffed chicken breasts for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for a few minutes.
  10. Drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.

Notes

  • You can add spinach or roasted red peppers for extra flavor inside the chicken.
  • Be careful not to overstuff the chicken to prevent leaking during cooking.
  • This dish pairs well with a side of roasted vegetables or a green salad.
