Carrot Purée

A smooth and creamy carrot purée made from tender cooked carrots, perfect as a side dish or baby food.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter (or olive oil for vegan option)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth or water
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon for flavor

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the carrots into uniform pieces.
  2. Place the carrots in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until carrots are very tender.
  4. Drain the carrots and transfer them to a blender or food processor.
  5. Add butter and vegetable broth (or water), and blend until smooth. Add more liquid if needed to reach desired consistency.
  6. Season with salt to taste and optional spices if using.
  7. Serve warm or allow to cool if using for baby food.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use chicken broth instead of vegetable broth.
  • This purée can be frozen in airtight containers for up to 3 months.
  • Use olive oil for a vegan version.
