Chicken Tenders and Fries (Without Sauces)

Crispy and juicy chicken tenders paired with golden, seasoned fries make for a delicious and satisfying meal that’s perfect for both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken tenders
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • 4 medium russet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt (for fries)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (for fries)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken tenders in buttermilk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  2. Peel and cut the potatoes into thin strips. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
  3. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss fries with olive oil, salt, and paprika. Spread on a baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  4. Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
  5. Dredge marinated chicken tenders in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken tenders in batches for 5–7 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
  7. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with baked fries and dipping sauces of choice.

Notes

  • Soaking potatoes removes excess starch for crispier fries.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F internally.
  • Can use an air fryer for a healthier option.
  • Add herbs or spices to the breadcrumb mix for variation.
