  • 4 cups frozen French fries
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and bake the French fries according to package instructions until crispy.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add vegetable oil and cook the ground beef until browned.
  3. Add chopped onions and garlic to the skillet and cook until soft, about 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
  5. Pour in tomato sauce and add kidney beans. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the fries are baked, arrange them on a serving plate or baking sheet.
  7. Spoon the chili evenly over the fries.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and return to the oven for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired and serve immediately.

  • You can use store-bought or homemade chili.
  • Swap ground beef for turkey or plant-based crumbles for a lighter option.
