Cinnamon Baked Apples

Warm and comforting baked apples filled with a sweet cinnamon-sugar mixture, perfect as a healthy dessert or fall treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup apple cider or water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Core the apples, leaving the bottom intact to form a well.
  3. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, nuts, and raisins.
  4. Stuff each apple with the mixture, then top with butter pieces.
  5. Place apples in a baking dish and pour apple cider or water into the dish.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until apples are tender but not mushy.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp to prevent mushiness.
  • Can substitute maple syrup or honey for brown sugar.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
