Easy Pan Fried Fish

A quick and simple recipe for perfectly seasoned and crispy pan-fried fish fillets, ideal for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or haddock)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels.
  2. In a shallow dish, mix the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Dredge each fish fillet in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess.
  4. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Place the fillets in the hot pan, skin-side down if applicable.
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove from the pan and drain briefly on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is hot before adding the fish to ensure crispiness.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or well-seasoned cast iron pan to prevent sticking.
  • You can add garlic powder or herbs to the flour mixture for extra flavor.
