- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
 
- 1 cup granulated sugar
 
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
 
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
 
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
 
- 1/2 tsp salt
 
- 2 large eggs
 
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
 
- 1 cup buttermilk
 
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
 
- 1/2 cup hot water
 
- 1/2 cup Nutella
 
- 1/2 cup crushed hazelnuts
 
- 10–12 Ferrero Rocher chocolates (crushed or halved)
 
- 1 cup heavy cream
 
- 1/2 cup butter (softened)
 
- 1/2 cup Nutella (for frosting)

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans.
 
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
 
- In another bowl, beat eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
 
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
 
- Stir in hot water and mix until well incorporated.
 
- Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
 
- Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
 
- For the frosting, beat butter until creamy, add Nutella and mix well.
 
- Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Add heavy cream to adjust consistency.
 
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread a layer of frosting, sprinkle with crushed hazelnuts and Ferrero Rocher pieces.
 
- Top with the second cake layer and frost the top and sides.
 
- Decorate with additional Ferrero Rocher chocolates and crushed hazelnuts.
 
- Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving for best results.

- You can substitute buttermilk with 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice.
