French Toast with Berries

A classic French toast recipe topped with fresh berries, perfect for a sweet and satisfying breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread (preferably thick-cut or day-old)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp butter (for cooking)
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional, for serving)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly.
  4. Place the soaked bread onto the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  5. Remove from skillet and repeat with remaining slices.
  6. Top the French toast with sliced strawberries and blueberries.
  7. Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use brioche or challah bread for a richer taste.
  • You can use any berries you prefer, such as raspberries or blackberries.
  • Day-old bread helps soak up the egg mixture better without getting soggy.
