Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Creamy and flavorful garlic mashed potatoes made with real butter, cream, and roasted garlic for the perfect side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place potatoes and garlic cloves in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook until potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and garlic well, then return them to the pot.
  4. Add butter and mash the potatoes and garlic together until mostly smooth.
  5. Gradually stir in the milk or cream until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use roasted garlic for a sweeter, milder garlic flavor.
  • Warm the milk or cream before adding to keep the potatoes hot.
  • Do not overmix to avoid gluey texture.
