- 2 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed

- 4 cloves garlic, peeled

- 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream

- 1/4 cup unsalted butter

- Salt to taste

- Freshly ground black pepper to taste

- Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

- Place potatoes and garlic cloves in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt.

- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook until potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

- Drain the potatoes and garlic well, then return them to the pot.

- Add butter and mash the potatoes and garlic together until mostly smooth.

- Gradually stir in the milk or cream until the desired consistency is reached.

- Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

		Notes

- Use roasted garlic for a sweeter, milder garlic flavor.

- Warm the milk or cream before adding to keep the potatoes hot.

- Do not overmix to avoid gluey texture.
