Juicy and flavorful grilled turkey burgers, perfect for a healthy summer meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 g) ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 whole-grain burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 red onion slices
  • Condiments of choice (e.g., ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400 °F / 200 °C).
  2. In a bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick patty.
  4. Brush grill grates with oil. Place patties on grill and cook for 5–6 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 165 °F (74 °C).
  5. During the last 1–2 minutes of cooking, toast buns cut-side down on the grill.
  6. Assemble burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, then turkey patty, tomato slice, onion slice, and desired condiments. Top with the bun.
  7. Let burgers rest for 2 minutes before serving to retain juices.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the turkey to keep burgers tender.
  • Let patties rest for 2 minutes before serving to retain juices.
  • For extra flavor, stir in chopped fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro.
  • These can be cooked on a stovetop griddle if a grill isn’t available.
