Hazelnut Hot Cocoa

A rich and creamy hot cocoa flavored with toasted hazelnuts, perfect for cozy evenings or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon hazelnut extract or 2 tablespoons hazelnut spread
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Chopped toasted hazelnuts (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Continue whisking until the mixture is hot but not boiling.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and hazelnut extract (or hazelnut spread) until well combined.
  4. Remove from heat and pour into mugs.
  5. Top with whipped cream and garnish with chopped toasted hazelnuts, if desired.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use hazelnut milk for extra hazelnut flavor.
  • Adjust sugar to taste.
  • Can be made vegan by using plant-based milk, vegan cream, and omitting whipped cream or using a vegan version.
