Margherita Pizza

Classic Margherita Pizza featuring a crispy thin crust, tangy tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and fragrant basil leaves.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ball pizza dough (about 250g)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 120g fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 68 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • All-purpose flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C) or the highest temperature possible. Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to preheat.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.
  4. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Top with slices of fresh mozzarella and a pinch of salt.
  6. Carefully transfer the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated stone or baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately top with fresh basil leaves and drizzle with olive oil.
  9. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use high-quality tomatoes or tomato passata for the best sauce flavor.
  • Let the dough rest at room temperature for easier stretching.
  • Fresh basil should be added after baking to preserve its flavor and color.
