Pesto Pasta with Peas

A vibrant and flavorful pasta dish tossed with creamy pesto sauce and sweet green peas, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340 g) pasta of choice
  • 1 cup frozen green peas
  • 1/2 cup pesto sauce
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook pasta according to package instructions.
  2. In the last 2 minutes of cooking, add the frozen peas to the pasta water.
  3. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain pasta and peas.
  4. Return pasta and peas to the pot, add pesto, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Toss well, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh peas if in season, blanching them for just 1–2 minutes.
  • For extra protein, add cooked chicken or shrimp.
  • Vegan option: Use dairy-free pesto and omit Parmesan or use vegan cheese.
