Shrimp Cocktail

A classic appetizer featuring chilled shrimp served with a tangy cocktail sauce, perfect for parties or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails left on
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning (optional)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp prepared horseradish
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Few dashes hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  2. Add shrimp to the boiling water and cook for 2–3 minutes, until pink and opaque.
  3. Immediately transfer shrimp to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain and chill until ready to serve.
  4. In a small bowl, combine ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using) to make cocktail sauce.
  5. Serve chilled shrimp on a platter with cocktail sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of horseradish to your spice preference.
  • Shrimp can be cooked ahead of time and chilled until serving.
  • For extra flavor, add garlic cloves and bay leaves to the boiling water.
