- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 slider buns or Hawaiian rolls
- 1 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing buns)
- Optional: shredded cheddar cheese or sliced pickles
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Add chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
- Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer the mixture for 5–10 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the bottom halves of the slider buns in a baking dish. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over the buns.
- Top with shredded cheese or pickles if desired, then place the top buns over the filling.
- Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes until the buns are toasted and the filling is heated through.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- You can prepare the beef mixture ahead of time and reheat before assembling.
- Swap ground beef with ground turkey for a lighter version.
- Use pre-sliced cheese for faster assembly.
