Sweet Potato Mash

A creamy and naturally sweet side dish made from boiled and mashed sweet potatoes, perfect for holiday meals or everyday dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes.
  2. Place them in a large pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil.
  3. Boil for 15–20 minutes or until sweet potatoes are fork-tender.
  4. Drain and return to the pot or a large mixing bowl.
  5. Add milk, butter, and optional sweetener and spices.
  6. Mash until smooth using a potato masher or hand mixer.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, use plant-based milk and olive oil or vegan butter.
  • You can adjust sweetness and spices according to your taste.
  • Great for prepping ahead and reheating before serving.
