Tuna Pasta Bake

A comforting and hearty tuna pasta bake made with tender pasta, flaky tuna, sweetcorn, and a creamy cheese sauce, baked until golden and bubbly.

Ingredients

  • 300g pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 2 x 160g cans tuna in spring water, drained
  • 1 cup frozen sweetcorn
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 500ml milk
  • 150g grated cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Cook pasta in salted boiling water according to packet instructions, drain, and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, then gradually whisk in milk to make a smooth sauce.
  5. Stir in grated cheese and mixed herbs until melted and combined. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add cooked pasta, tuna, and sweetcorn to the sauce, mixing well.
  7. Pour mixture into a greased baking dish, top with extra cheese.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  9. Serve hot with a side salad or garlic bread.

Notes

  • You can substitute sweetcorn with peas or spinach.
  • For extra crunch, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top before baking.
  • Use whole wheat pasta for a healthier version.
